GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to former MCVL rival Fontbonne on Tuesday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Panthers lost 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 as George Black registered 11 kills.
The Panthers offensive attack was strongest in the first set as they ended with a .250 hitting percentage. Greenville had 11 kills, four errors, and 28 attacks in the opening set.
Greenville slipped to a -.053 hitting percentage in the second set and was an even .000 in the third.
It looked like the Panthers might force a fourth set when they led 13-10 in the third set, forcing a Fontbonne timeout. Fontbonne used the stoppage to regroup and scored eight of the next nine points.
Black ended with a team-high 11.5 points in the match, adding a block assist to his 11 kills.
Andrew Martin collected 6.5 points with four kills, a solo block, a block assist, and a service ace.
Greenville's Alejandro Condoy provided 12 set assists, followed by Jacob Hughes with six assists.
The Panthers (1-6) head to Loras for their first CCIW match on Saturday.
