NAPERVILLE, IL - The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) has formally announced the addition of four more institutions to its ranks, bringing its membership to 14 beginning in the winter of 2016. Adrian College, Olivet College, Marian University, and Wittenberg University have accepted membership into the MCVL with the four institutions beginning competition during the 2015-16 academic year.
"We are excited to add four more schools to the MCVL bringing our membership to 14 members in 2015-16,” said MCVL Commissioner Chris Martin. "Adrian, Olivet, Marian, and Wittenberg all fit with the current MCVL membership and will help continue to grow the sport of men’s volleyball in the Midwest region."
Current members of the MCVL ready for play in 2015 include Benedictine University, Carthage College, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Fontbonne University, Mount St. Joseph University, Lakeland College, Loras College, and Dominican University.
In September, it was announced that Greenville College and North Central College will also begin competition in the MCVL in 2016.
The inaugural season will begin in mid January with conference play beginning February 6. The first MCVL tournament will be held on April 10-11at the site of the regular season champion.
Carthage College was recently picked to win the 2015 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) title according to the preseason coaches' poll.
The NCAA has sponsored an official Division III men's volleyball national championship since 2012. The winner of the MCVL tournament will receive an automatic bid in the NCAA national championships beginning in 2017.
