Crawford and Piazza Named MCVL Players of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) - Brendan Crawford (North Central) and Joey Piazza (Mount St. Joseph) have been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Players of the Week.

Crawford led the Cardinals to a 2-1 start thanks to a monstrous start in which he totaled 25 kills over three matches with a .474 attack percentage. Against fifth-ranked New York University, Crawford hit .400 with six kills. Later in a match against Marian, Crawford added to his day with a nine-kill performance and a .667 attack percentage.

On the defensive side of the net, Piazza paced the Lions to a 1-2 week largely in part due to his 39 digs. In a 3-2 loss to St. Joseph's (L.I.), Piazza registered 18 digs and seven assists. In his final match of the weekend against No. 11 Kean, Piazza totaled 20 digs in a four-set loss. As a freshman, Piazza finished with 204 digs, which ranked 10th in the MCVL.

Crawford is the second player in North Central's history to be named a MCVL Player of the Week and first since Bozhidar Kolev was named the MCVL Offensive Player of the Week on March 22, 2016. Piazza is the 13th MCVL Player of the Week winner and first since Alex Vohland was named MCVL Offensive Player of the Week on March 26, 2017.
