Chisholm, Kinney and Rothstein Named MCVL Players of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) - Mount St. Joseph's Andrew Chisholm (Offensive), Loras' Greg Kinney (Co-Defensive) and Fontbonne's Zach Rothstein (Co-Defensive) have been named Midwest College Volleyball League Players of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
 
The Lions moved their winning streak to four with a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Loras and Augustana, improving to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the MCVL. Chisholm finished with 16 kills, averaging 2.67 per set and a .625 attack percentage. The senior middle blocker added two solo blocks and two assisted blocks to lead Mount St. Joseph. Chisolm ranks fifth in the MCVL with .97 blocks per set this season. This is the second weekly award for Chisholm this season and 15th all-time for the Lions.
 
Kinney and the Duhawks opened league play going 1-1 last weekend, falling to Mount St. Joseph and defeating Wittenberg in five. With 24 digs in his two matches, Kinney average 3.00 per set, including 14 against the Tigers. In five matches this season, the Las Vegas native has recorded 10 or more digs and ranks ninth in the MCVL. The weekly honor is the first of Kinney's career and second for Loras.
 
Fontbonne sits atop the MCVL standings at 8-2 and 3-0 in the MCVL. Last week, the Griffins earned wins at home against Adrian and Olivet before a sweep of Greenville on Tuesday. Rothstein averaged 4.43 digs per set, totaling 31 in two matches. The sophomore ranks sixth in the league with 107 digs this season and first in digs per set at 3.34. This is the second weekly honor for Rothstein, having previously been slected on Jan. 31, 2017. Rothstein is the only player in Fontbonne's history to have been chosen as player of the week.
