Silvinski and Rothstein Named MCVL Players of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - Matt Silvinski (Carthage) and Zach Rothstein (Fontbonne) have been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League's Players of the Week, for the week spanning Feb. 25-March 4.
 
The freshman out of Willow Springs, Ill., Silvinski had a monster week for the Red Men, totaling 35 kills in three matches. In total, Silvinski hit .450 on the week while adding 17 digs and four blocks. Against Adrian, Silvinski finished with 13 kills and hit .522, only to be followed by a second consecutive .500 performance, with nine kills against Olivet for .571. This season, Silvinski owns a .331 attack percentage and has averaged 11.25 kills per match over his last four appearances. The weekly honor is the fifth for Carthage this season and 25th in the history of the MCVL.
 
For the second time this season, Rothstein's performance has been recognized by the league. The Griffins' libero became a three-time MCVL Player of the Week honoree, which includes his second honor of the season. Fontbonne went 2-1 during the week with Rothstein totaling 44 digs, including 4.00 per set. In a 3-2, win over Hiram, Rothstein recorded 23 digs as Fontbonne prevailed in five.
