Connolly, Farley and Peters Named Weekly MCVL Honorees

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) – Parker Connolly (Carthage) has been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Defensive Player of the Week along with Josh Farley (Fontbonne) and Leo Peters (Loras) have been named Co-Offensive Players of the Week.

Connolly led the Red Men to a strong start to the 2019 season, opening with a 4-0 record and posting a monstrous week with 13 total blocks and a 1.30 block per set average. The Downers Grove, Ill. native finished with five blocks in Carthage's 3-1 win over Wittenberg.

On the offensive side of the net, Farley finished with 24 kills and a .415 attacking percentage, leading Griffins to a pair of sweeps over Bluefield and Cumberland. The senior was named to the All-Tournament Team in the NCAA Division III/NAIA Bracket at the Off the Block Challenge as well as posting a career-high 13 kills and MVP of the tournament.


Peters finished a dominating week with 26 total kills and a .431 attacking percentage. The Minneapolis, Minn. native led the Duhawks to a 2-0 start with wins over Mt. Mercy and Illinois Tech, leading the team in kills per set, points per set, total attempts and total kills.

Connolly is the 27th player in Carthage history to be named a MCVL Player of the Week after Zach Lillig ended the 2018 season as MCVL Defensive Player of the Week on April 3, 2018. Farley is the fifth player and first MCVL Player of the Week since Zach Rothstein did so on March 27, 2018 for Fontbonne. Peters is the third Duhawk in program history and first MCVL Player of the Week since Greg Kinney on Feb. 20, 2018.
