Tri-Champion Baldwin Wallace Advances to MCVL Tournament Final

Alliance, OHIO – Baldwin Wallace's men's volleyball program defeated Wittenberg University in four sets in the opening semifinal of the 2023 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Tournament, hosted by Mount Union. 

BW, in its first-ever tournament appearance, dropped the opening set to fellow regular season Tri-Champion Wittenberg before storming back to win the final three sets and secure the win. The Yellow Jackets will face the winner of top-seeded Mount Union and fourth-seeded Trine on Saturday, April 15 at 4 p.m. ET.

Michael Devlin led the attack for BW with 18 kills on 34 attempts for a .294 attack percentage. Josh Steinitz also produced eight kills in the middle and hit at a blistering .727 clip. From the service line, BW racked up six aces with Michael Beard hammering a team-high three.

As a team, the Yellow Jackets hit .252 compared to Wittenberg's .305. BW led the match with 54 kills while the Tigers had 48. Despite the defeat, Wittenberg dropped the contest by a cumulative total of five points.
