MEQUON, Wis. - The men's volleyball team began the tenure of new head coach Chad Nelson with a win over North Park before falling in the second match of the night to Concordia Wisconsin in the opening matches of the program's fourth season.

In the North Park match, Greenville won 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21 in four sets.

The Panthers were led by Nick Corrigan and Kyle Ward who each had 11 kills in the match.  Overall, Greenville hit at a rate of .244, compiling an impressive .455 mark in the second set.

Tanner Smith continued to direct Greenville's offense with 34 set assists, but he was also helpful on the defensive side with a team-high 11 digs.

At the net, Isaiah Canales, Smith, and Ward had a role in four blocks each.  Ward knocked down a solo block and three block assists, while Smith and Canales each had four block assists.

The second match saw Greenville jump ahead with a hitting rate of .389 in their first set 25-18 win, but Concordia came back with set victories of 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 to end the match in four sets.

George Black was a force on the attack for the Panthers with a team season high 12 kills.  Ward and Corrigan reached double figures with 10 kills each.

Smith provided 42 set assists, and he also led the team for the second time with 10 digs.

Canales impacted Concordia's attack by giving Greenville a solo block and three block assists.

The Panthers (1-1) continue their season on Saturday at St. Xavier in a match scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
