Men's volleyball drops four set match at St. Xavier

CHICAGO, Ill. - The men's volleyball team took the second set of their match on Saturday night at St. Xavier, but the Panthers came up short in four sets in the third and final match of their season-opening weekend.  St. Xavier won 25-15, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19.

George Black led the Panthers in kills with 11 over the four sets.  He received the support of Tanner Smith who produced 29 assists.

Greenville swung at a rate of .300 in the first set as they totaled 10 kills and four errors in 20 attempts.  They closed the match at a .200 clip overall with 35 kills and 17 errors in 90 total attempts.

In Greenville's second set win, they had eight kills, five errors, and 21 attempts to finish at .143, and they benefited from SXU's eight attack errors and sub-zero hitting percentage of -.062.

Isaiah Canales helped GU on defense with one solo block and four block assists as the Panthers compiled three solo blocks and 12 block assists in the match.

Logan Dameris provided seven digs to lead Greenville from the back row.

Nick Corrigan managed to come up with two service aces.

The Panthers (1-2) go to the NCCAA national invitational next Friday at Trinity Christian where they will play Judson and Brewton-Parker on day one.
