Men's volleyball wins both Saturday at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The men's volleyball team took two wins on Saturday at Trine as they opened the day with a five-set victory against Trine before sweeping Maranatha Baptist in three sets.

In GU's opening match, the Panthers had total control in the first two sets, taking 25-18 and 25-20 wins.

The Panthers allowed Trine to regroup and force a fifth set with 25-19 and 25-21 losses in sets three and four.

Greenville managed to win the match with a 17-15 score in the fifth set.

Johnny Milabu produced 21 kills and only two errors in 33 attacks for Greenville.  He hit .576.  Milabu also came up with one solo block and four block assists.

Nick Corrigan provided 15 kills to Greenville's winning effort.

Tanner Smith passed out 51 set assists, and Ryan Nelson was active on defense with 11 digs.

In the second match against Maranatha Baptist, the Panthers dominated in a 25-16, 25-15, 25-16 win.

Kyle Ward totaled 15 kills and only three errors in 32 attacks to end at a .375 attack rate.

Smith again led Greenville with 41 set assists.

Logan Dameris was the top Greenville defender in the back row with eight digs.  Milabu was effective at the net for GU with three solo blocks and two block assists.

The Panthers (8-6) will be off until Saturday, Feb. 23, when they go to Fontbonne for matches against Maranatha Baptist and Fontbonne.
