KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's volleyball team will be hosting their second-consecutive NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Regional at Tarble Arena on Friday, April 19 – Saturday, April 20.

Saturday's regional final winner will cement them a spot in the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Final Four on Friday, April 26 - Saturday, April 27 at Kean University's Harwood Arena in Union, New Jersey. 
 
ABOUT #2 CARTHAGE COLLEGE (23-2, 9-0 MCVL)
 
The 2019 MCVL Tournament Runner-Up Red Men will be making their fifth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance by way of a Pool C at-large bid after a 3-2 setback to Fontbonne University on April 13. Carthage will enter the NCAA Tournament with a Division III-leading 13.00 assists per set and 13.67 kills per set. Matt Reinsel commands that unit with a #1 ranked 12.08 assists per set.
 
Evan Walsh leads the productivity with 3.64 kills per set, while Eric Winter paces the efficiency with a .388 hitting percentage on 117 kills along with a seventh-ranked 1.02 blocks per set. Walsh also commands the defense with 2.45 digs per set.
 
The Red Men, who came up short in a 3-1 decision against Dominican in the 2017 NCAA Regional Final, are led by L.J. Marx (318-130, 15 seasons).
 
ABOUT UC SANTA CRUZ (18-16)
 
The Banana Slugs, who fell to Carthage 3-2 at Tarble Arena on February 9, are riding a six-game win streak into Friday's first-round match. UC Santa Cruz is dominate at the net with a fifth-ranked 2.29 blocks per set, led by the dynamic duo of Justin Fortner (0.9 blocks per set) and Raymond Cascio (0.8 blocks per set). Cascio also commands the UC Santa Cruz offense with 4.51 points per set and 3.76 kills per set as each rank among NCAA Division III's Top 15.
 
UC Santa Cruz, who holds a 9-12 all-time record vs. the Red Men, are led by head coach Paul Leon (76-38, four seasons). The Banana Slugs earned a Pool B bid into the tournament as a NCAA Division III Independent.
 
ABOUT #9 MILWAUKEE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING (21-7, 13-3 NACC)
 
The Raiders suffered a 3-0 setback to Carthage on February 16, where all set scores were 25-21. Freshman phenom Ben Pung, who notched 12 kills in their loss to the Red Men, leads his team with 3.08 kills per set. Fellow freshman Jacob Sirny, who owns 2.35 kills per set, ranks second in the country with a .462 hitting percentage. Sirny is also a force on the defensive side of the net with 0.67 blocks per set.
 
Senior Quin Krisik brings a hot hand to the service line for MSOE with 0.6 aces per set, which ranks 10th in the country.
 
The Raiders, fresh off an emotional 3-1 victory over Dominican in the 2019 NACC Championship en route to an automatic bid, are led by head coach Shane Reid (76-29, four seasons).
 
ABOUT #15 FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY (25-2, 7-2 MCVL)
 
The Griffins' 3-0 victory over the Red Men in the 2019 MCVL Tournament Championship Game earned them an automatic bid into the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship, and their first ever appearance on the AVCA Division III Men's Volleyball Coaches' Poll this week (#15). Fontbonne's 25 wins in 2019 is a single-season program record.
 
The Griffins will enter the 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament with a #1 ranked 12.91 digs per set while holding top-10 rankings in assists per set (11.85), blocks per set (2.29), kills per set (12.66), opponent hitting percentage (.105) and team attacks per set (29.84). Emir Hadzisalihovic ranks third in the country with a .457 hitting mark, while Kyler Van Rossum-O'Connell holds that same national ranking with 10.63 assists per set. Zach Rothstein's 3.10 digs per set puts him at #8 in the country.
 
Ryan LeGrand (25-2, one season) is in his first season as Fontbonne head men's volleyball coach.
