Men’s Volleyball Captures 100th Victory in Program History With 3-0 Win Over Hiram
SPRINGFIELD, OH – Capturing its 100th victory in program history, Wittenberg's men's volleyball team coasted to a 3-0 win over Hiram Thursday night Jan. 30 at Pam Evans Smith Arena, part of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex.
Leading from start to finish in both sets one and three, the Tigers won in three straight 25-15, 25-18, and 25-15. After four ties, a kill by Michael Yurk (Indianapolis, IN / Bishop Chatard) provided Witt a 6-5 lead in the middle set and the Tigers never looked back.
Wittenberg, now 7-4 overall, has won two in a row and is 6-2 at home. The Tigers are 8-4 in the series against Hiram, which drops to 3-3 overall.
Team Leaders
- Two Tigers registered double digits in points.
- Michael Yurk (Indianapolis, IN / Bishop Chatard) was the team leader with 12 kills, 21 total attacks, 12.5 points, and five digs.
- Eli Halverson (Hamilton, OH / Badin) added nine kills, 24 total attacks, 10 points, three assists, and six digs.
- Gavin Hagerty (Fishers, IN / Fishers) led the team in assists with 13 and Carson Hill (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota East) added 10.
- Jake Downs (Cincinnati, OH / Milford) also had six digs.
