Men's volleyball sweeps Trine in three sets

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's volleyball team concluded the home portion of their schedule with a three-set sweep over Trine to win their first MCVL match of the season.

Greenville opened the match with an incredible first set, ending with 10 kills in 20 attacks and a .500 hitting percentage. The Panthers ran off seven straight points to give them a 16-8 lead and scored six of the next seven points to take a 21-9 advantage and force a timeout by Trine.

GU closed the set with a 25-12 win, capped by a kill by Johnny Milabu. Milabu led the Panthers after one set with four kills.

In the second set, Greenville fell behind 14-12 but were able to straighten things out after a time out. GU went on a 8-1 run to take a 20-15 advantage when Trine called a time out. Greenville ended the set with a 25-21 victory.

The Panthers produced 15 kills, one error, 29 attacks, and .483 hitting percentage in the second set. Milabu added four more kills.

Greenville maintained their momentum with 11-5 lead in the final set, putting them on top by six. The Panthers finished the match on a block by Tim Neff to take the 25-19 victory in set three and gain their second win over Trine this season.

GU ended the third set with 11 kills, six errors, 26 attacks, and hitting percentage of .192.

Overall, Greenville produced an attack line of 37/7/76/.395.

The Panthers were led by Milabu with 11 kills in his final match in H.J. Long Gymnasium. He produced a .688 hitting percentage with 11 kills in 16 attacks.

Ryan Nelson received the start at libero and finished with 12 digs.

Neff was a force at the net with two solo blocks and four block assists.

Tanner Smith ended his career at home with 30 set assists.

The Panthers (13-14, 1-6 MCVL) travel to Adrian for a match on Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
