UOlivet falls to Lakeland in four sets

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's volleyball team dropped a four-set match against Lakeland (Wis.) University this afternoon at the Cutler Event Center. The Muskies won the first set, 25-18, before the Comets took the second set, 26-24. Lakeland earned the win with a 27-25 win in set three and 25-13 win in set four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a 2-2 tie in the first set, the Muskies went on an 8-2 run to take a 10-4 lead and force the Comets to call a timeout. Lakeland stretched its lead to 11 points, 17-6. Olivet fought back to close the gap to six points but did not get any closer.
- In the second set, the Muskies built a three-point cushion, 14-11. The Comets answered with four straight points, including two kills by sophomore Aiden Chamblee, to take their first lead, 15-14. A service error leveled the score before a 3-0 Olivet run made the score 18-15. The Comets continued to hold the advantage until Lakeland used a 4-0 burst to turn a 20-18 deficit into a 22-20 lead. Olivet tied the game on kills by Chamblee and freshman Silas Martin. The Muskies took the lead but two kills by Martin put the Comets ahead. Lakeland evened the score at 24-24. Chamblee slammed down a kill before serving an ace to give the set to Olivet.
- The Muskies led 5-2 in the third set. The Comets then took advantage of some Lakeland errors to post a 9-3 run for their own three-point lead, 11-8. Lakeland scored the next two points. From that point, there were eight tied scores. Following a 21-21 score, Olivet scored two straight points – the first on a double block at the net and the second on a kill. The Muskies used back-to-back kills and an ace to go ahead 24-23. Chamblee tied the score before a Lakeland kill and service error made the score 25-25. The Muskies won the set with a kill and Comet attack error.
- In the fourth set, Lakeland raced out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back.
FOR THE COMETS
- Chamblee and Martin each recorded 12 kills.
- Chamblee posted a .346 hitting percentage.
- Sophomore Amarion Lawson was next with six kills.
- Senior Will Mensching recorded 27 set assists.
- Mensching and junior Matthew Tollar tallied nine digs apiece.

- Olivet heads is on the road for two matches this weekend. On Saturday, the Comets play at North Park (Ill.) University at 4 p.m. ET, and the next day, they play at Rockford (Ill) University at 3 p.m. ET.
