No. 2 Carthage Selected to Host NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS (MCVL.org) - With the automatic bid from the MCVL in hand, the No. 2 Carthage men's volleyball team was selected to host one of four regional sites for the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship.

The Red Men enter the NCAA Tournament with a 26-1 record and await the winner of Hunter and Dominican in the second quarterfinal round. A win in the quarterfinal for Carthage lays the groundwork for the Red Men to win an NCAA Championship on their home court, as Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis. will serve as the finals site for this year's championship.

Hunter won the AQ from the City University of New York Athletic Conference and enters with a record of 23-10 while Dominican, last year's MCVL Champion, won the AQ from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and brings a 24-7 record into the postseason. The first round match has first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on Friday, April 20. The winner advances to Satruday's quarterfinal with first serve set for 6 p.m., as well.

In total, 12 teams were awarded bids to the NCAA Tournament, 10 via automatic bids from conferences and two via at-large selection. The two "Pool C" bids were awarded to No. 1 Springfield, who competes as an independent institution, and No. 5 Vassar.
