Carthage Ranked No. 3 in AVCA Preseason Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. (MCVL.org) – The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League is represented by Carthage and North Central in this year's American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Top 15 Poll. As for the favorites of the MCVL, Carthage is found at No. 3 in the AVCA Poll after finishing 26-2 and fifth in the nation in 2018. The Red Men look to make a trip to their fourth NCAA Championship in five years as they open up the season on at the 2019 Jim Coleman Invitational on Friday, Jan. 18 against Wittenberg.

North Central falls just short of making the Top 15 while receiving nine votes after finishing 17-8 in 2018. Following their 2018 MCVL Conference Championship, the Cardinals were picked second in the MCVL Preseason Coaches' Poll. North Central opens up with a difficult stretch as they play eight top 15 teams in the month of January and will open up their 2019 campaign against California Lutheran who was picked at No. 8.

Reigning national champions, Springfield, were once again selected at the No. 1 spot, receiving 20 of the 24 possible votes, for the fourth consecutive season.
