CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) – Augustana's Jason Szara and North Central's Samuel Kharasch headline this week's honorees in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League's Player of the Week.
Szara's receives Offensive Player of the Week as he pushed the Vikings to a pair of road wins this past weekend. In eight games, the Frankfort, Ill. Native finished with 35 kills, hitting .213 and 4.38 kills per set. His all-around performance lead to two wins over Aurora and Loras totaling one service ace, 18 digs, and two blocks.
Kharasch earns Defensive Player of the Week with his weekend performance against top-ranked teams, No. 12 California Lutheran and No. 6 Dominican. The sophomore finished the two matches with 24 digs averaging 4.00 digs per set. In the Cardinals' 3-0 victory against California Lutheran, Kharasch finished with 12 digs.
This is Augustana's first MCVL Player of the Week honors since March 20 of last season when Matt Schiferl won the defensive award. North Central earns its first MCVL Player of the Week honors since Brendan Crawford did so on Jan. 23, 2018.
