MCVL Announces 2025 Major Awards, All-MCVL Teams

MCVL, U.S.A. — The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) announced its 2025 edition of the All-MCVL awards on Thursday afternoon.

Mount Union, the undefeated 2025 MCVL Regular Season Champions, had three members of its program recognized as major award winners. Head coach Matt Mihelic earned Coach of the Year while Michael Bowler and Peyton Koszelak earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year accolades, respectively. Wittenberg's Adam Blair was named the 2025 MCVL Rookie of the Year.

For Mihelic, this is his second Coach of the Year honor and first outright, previously earning this award following the 2022 regular season. Mount Union finished off its 2025 regular season campaign with an 18-8 record and an 8-0 record in league play. The Purple Raiders are currently on a nine-match winning streak as they prepare to host the 2025 MCVL Tournament this weekend.

Bowler has had much to do with Mount Union's success this season, hitting at a blistering .415 clip from his middle hitter position, second-highest among all league competitors. Bowler racked up 232 kills this season overall and earned a total of three Offensive Player of the Week nods. He amassed 80 kills in eight MCVL matches, averaging 2.67 kills pet set, and has produced career-highs by a wide margin in nearly all statistical categories

Koszelak anchored the Purple Raider defense all season, totaling the most digs (322) and digs per set (3.43) in the MCVL. The sophomore libero from Eden, N.Y. notched three Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2025 and currently sits second in all of NCAA Division III in digs per set. In league play, Koszelak had just six reception errors on 127 attempts and racked up 105 digs, an average 3.75 digs per set.

Blair has been a breakout star for the Tigers in his first season on campus. The freshman middle hitter from West Chester, Ohio led the MCVL in hitting percentage, both overall (.437) and in league play (.525). He had just nine attack errors in eight MCVL matches and totaled 61 kills, 2.26 kills per set.

All four MCVL Tournament qualifying institutions were well represented on the All-MCVL squads. Mount Union's Jack McClure joined teammates Bowler and Koszelak on the First Team. Baldwin Wallace also had multiple First Team selections as Daniel Latham and Ted Hofmeister both earned this status. Trine's Kevin Boncaro and Wittenberg's Blair also secured spots on the First Team. MSJ's Ryan Bollhauer rounded out the First Team selections.
