Men's Volleyball Stays Perfect In Conference Play; Woolsey Becomes All-Time Career Blocks Leader

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's volleyball team stayed unbeaten in conference play on Saturday with a four set win over Trine. Braden Woolsey also became the all-time leader at Fontbonne with 303 career blocks.

Set Notes

Set 1: After back-and-forth action, the Thunder led 14-12 on Ted Hofmeister's kill. Fontbonne got the deficit down to 16-15, but the Thunder fended off Fontbonne stealing the first set for the 25-21 win.

The Griffins had 12 kills in the first set led by Nate Paasch with four. Ryan Lively had three, while Braden Woolsey and Cameron Graves contributed two kills each.

Set 2: It was all Fontbonne in the second taking a 12-3 lead on Cameron Graves' kill. They dominated the rest of the way cruising to the 25-10 win.

Fontbonne had 11 kills and a match-high .625 hitting percentage in the set. Paasch and Joseph Huster finished with three kills each.

Set 3: It was more of the same in the third with Fontbonne taking a 12-6 lead on a double block from Paasch and Woolsey. The Griffins remained in control throughout going on for the 25-15 win.

Fontbonne had a match-high 14 kills in the third led by Ryan Lively with five. Woolsey finished with four, to go along with a solo block and block assist.

Set 4: The Griffins opened with a 10-7 lead on a kill from Paasch. The Thunder kept battling and tied it up 19-19 on Hofmesiter's kill. However, the Griffins finished out the set on a 6-0 run capped off by Woolsey's kill for the 25-19 match win.

• Fontbonne finished with 50 kills and a .337 hitting percentage.
• Trine was limited to 37 kills and a .101 hitting percentage.
• Fontbonne held a 41-30 dig advantage.
• At the net, the Griffins had four solo blocks and 12 block assists.

• Braden Woolsey had 11 kills, a .714 hitting percentage, three solo blocks, and three block assists. He surpassed Emir Hadzisalihovic to become the all-time career blocks leader sitting at 308.
• Ryan Lively ended with 13 kills and a .385 hitting percentage.
• Nate Paasch added 11 kills and three block assists.
• Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell handed out 43 assists. He's now up to 4,371 career assists moving up to fifth all-time in Division III Men's Volleyball history.
• Cameron Graves led them defensively with 10 digs.
