Set Breakdown
Set 1: The Griffins opened with a commanding 12-5 lead on a kill from Joseph Huster. The Titans narrowed it down to 14-12 but that'd be as close as they'd get with Fontbonne finishing it off on an 11-2 run for the 25-14 win.
Fontbonne totaled 11 kills and a game-high .500 hitting percentage in the first. IWU struggled offensively with eight kills and 12 errors for a negative -.129 hitting percentage.
Set 2: It was back-and-forth play early in the second with the Titans trailing 11-10 but the Griffins gained some breathing room going on a 6-1 run capped off by Ryan Lively's kill for the 17-11 advantage. Fontbonne was able to hang on from there for the 25-19 win.
Set 3: In the third, the Griffins were on top 15-9 after a Titans ball handling error. Later in the set, the Griffins led 22-16 on Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell's kill, however, the Titans kept battling answering with a 4-0 run to trail 22-20.
Out of the timeout, the Griffins were able to maintain its lead and hang on for the 25-21 set and match win.
Head-to-Head
- Fontbonne finished with 37 kills and a .342 hitting percentage.
- At the net, the team totaled five solo blocks, four block assists, and seven blocks overall.
- IWU never found a rhythm offensively with 27 kills and a .024 hitting percentage.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Ryan Lively led with a team-high 10 kills and eight digs.
- Joseph Huster had a strong game with a season-high eight kills, a .700 hitting percentage, three solo blocks, and two block assists.
- Braden Woolsey continued his impressive stretch of play offensively with eight kills and a .727 hitting percentage. In his last four games, he's totaled 32 kills and zero errors.
- Cameron Graves finished with six kills and a .750 hitting percentage.
- Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell dished out a game-high 30 assists and seven digs.
