(RV) Men's Volleyball Takes The Opener But Falls In Game Two Against Mount St. Joseph
ALLIANCE, Ohio.—The (RV) Fontbonne University men’s volleyball team picked up a split against Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
ALLIANCE, Ohio.—The (RV) Fontbonne University men's volleyball team picked up a split against Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
Gm1 Final:
Fontbonne 3, Mount St. Joseph 2
(22-25, 25-17, 25-18, 18-25, 15-6)
Set Breakdown:
Set 1: It was back-and-forth play early but the Lions led 18-15 on a Fontbonne attack error and that forced the Griffins to take a timeout.
Out of the short break, the Griffins tried to even the set back up but it was MSJ fending off Fontbonne for the 25-22 win on Elijah Scott's kill.
Set 2: The Griffins this time around started fast and took a 15-10 lead on Ryan Lively's kill. They expanded it out to 19-13 and cruised to the 25-17 win on Braden Woolsey's kill.
Set 3: The teams were all even, 9-9, on a Fontbonne service error. The Griffins gained some breathing room going on a 4-0 run capped off by Ryan Lively's kill. The Griffins started to pull away leading 21-15 on Nate Paasch's kill and went on for the 25-18 victory.
Set 4: After Fontbonne narrowed the deficit down to 7-6, the Lions went on a 5-0 run leading 12-6 on a block assist from Jason Hascher and Jack Spohn. It was all Lions the rest of the way going on for the 25-18 win to force a fifth and final set.
Set 5: The Griffins put the game away in the fifth early taking a lead on a block assist from Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell and Jacob Hartmann. It was smooth sailing the rest of the way winning 15-6 on Cameron Graves' kill.
Head-to-Head
- Fontbonne finished with 55 kills and a .310 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, the team came away with 47 digs and four solo blocks, three of which were by Braden Woolsey.
- The Lions ended with 49 kills and a .157 hitting percentage.

- Ryan Lively led with a team-high 19 kills.
- Braden Woolsey ended with 13 kills and a .522 hitting percentage.
- Cameron Graves collected his first double-double on the year with 12 kills, a .476 hitting percentage, and 10 digs.
- Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell handed out 48 assists.
- Defensively, Nate Paasch led with a season-high 11 digs.
