Men's Volleyball: Bethany host Mount Union for inaugural home match

BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College men's volleyball team hosted the University of Mount Union inside Hummel Fieldhouse for the first ever men's volleyball match to be held on Joe Kurey Memorial Court, Tuesday evening.

THE MATCHUP

  • Mount Union 3, Bethany 0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first set, the Purple Raiders jumped ahead of the Bison early. Bethany rallied back to cut the deficit to 14-11 by scoring four points off of a service error, ace and Alexander Blair block. Mount Union scored 11 straight points to take the first set, 25-11.
  • Both teams battled back and forth in the second set. The Bison led for the first time in program history, 2-1 and then again at 4-3. Mount Union would score five straight points to go ahead 10-5 and hold momentum to take the second set, 25-14.
  • In the third, Mount Union held full momentum, holding the Bison to seven points. The Purple Raiders scored the first seven points in the final set and held a 10-2 lead.
