Dominican and Mount St. Joseph Advance to MCVL Tournament Championship

RIVER FOREST, Ill. (MCVL.org) - Dominican and Mount St. Joseph punched its' tickets to Saturday's MCVL Tournament Championship, with the winner earning the league's first automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship.

In the first semifinal at the 2017 MCVL Tournament, No. 8 Dominican advanced past No. 14 MSOE in three sets, 27-25, 26-24, 25-21. Luke Spicer paced the Stars' offense with 12 kills and a .357 attack percentage. In set two, Dominican fought off set point on five consecutive tries, coming from behind to win 26-24.

Advancing from the other side of the bracket, No. 14 Mount St. Joseph pulled the upset over No. 6 Carthage, defeating the Red Men in four sets, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22. Darrell Swenson powered the Lions' offense with a career-high 15 kills and hit .379.
