Allen and Sellers Named MCVL Players of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) - Tony Allen (Carthage) and Ashton Sellers (Wittenberg) have been named Players of the Week in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League, as selected by the league coaches.
 
Allen and the third-ranked Red Men went 2-0 last week with a pair of sweeps against North Central and Augustana. The Carthage libero averaged 8.5 digs per match and helped lead a defensive effort that held North Central to an attack percentage of .143 and Augustana to -.038. Allen ranks eighth in the MCVL with 10 reception errors and ninth with 68 digs.
 
Sellers was seemingly unstoppable last weekend for the Tigers in wins against Keuka and Penn State-Behrend, totaling 37 kills while hitting .457 and .412, respectively. In three matches, Sellers averaged 4.60 kills per set, hitting .370 with 16 digs and six blocks. Entering league play he leads the conference in kills (165) while ranking fourth in service aces (13).
