Brock and Schiferl Honored as Players of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.com) - Isaiah Brock of Wittenberg and Matt Schiferl of Augustana were selected as this week's Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League's Players of the Week. For Schiferl, he becomes the third player in league history to be named player of the week three times in the same season and first since 2015.
 
Brock becomes the third representative from Wittenberg this season to be named player of the week after totaling 24 kills in three matches, averaging 2.18 kills per set and hitting .512. Brock added six service aces and eight blocks. Brock finished with 13 kills and no errors in a 3-2 win over Rutgers-Newark in which he hit .500. Later that weekend in league action, Brock tallied a combined 11 kills in a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Olivet and Adrian.
 
Schiferl's defense continues to shine for the first-year Vikings, who recorded two matches with 10-or more digs while averaging 4.5 per set. The freshman leads the MCVL with 264 digs and is second with an average of 3.07. Nationally, Schiferl ranks 13th in digs per set.
