CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) – The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) announced its third edition of the 2020 weekly awards on Thursday afternoon. Mount St. Joseph's Jack Spohn took home Offensive Player of the Week accolades while Adrian's Kevin Curley notched Defensive Player of the Week plaudits.

Spohn, sophomore middle blocker from Lewis Center, Ohio, totaled 14 kills at a .500 clip in MSJ's two matches, an average of 2.33 kills per set. He also racked up six blocks assists, totaling 18.0 points for the Lions. Spohn shined in MSJ's match at Penn State-Behrend, racking up 11 kills on 21 attempts, hitting .524 on the night with zero errors.

Curley, a senior from Zion, Ill., racked up a combined 31 digs in the Bulldogs' two matches this week, averaging a robust 3.88 digs per set. In Adrian's match with Siena Heights, Curley totaled 21 digs over five sets in the libero spot. He currently ranks second in the MCVL with 2.85 digs per set and first in total digs (171).

The DPOW award is the third for Curley, earning the same nod on both March 6 and April 12, 2019. Spohn picks up his first career OPOW honor. Adrian and MSJ have now swept the last two MCVL weekly awards with AC's Noah Marcinkowski and MSJ's Rey Sanchez winning OPOW and DPOW, respectively, last week.

MCVL league play is rapidly approaching with the 2020 lid-lifter set for Feb. 18, pitting Adrian against Trine.
