Trine’s Monday, Beale Honored as Thunder Sweep MCVL Weekly Awards

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) – The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) announced its fourth edition of the 2020 weekly awards on Thursday afternoon. Trine's Parker Beale and Hunter Monday earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week accolades, respectively.

Beale, a freshman from Fishers, Ind., amassed 33 kills in the Thunder's two contests, averaging a blistering 4.33 kills per set with a .299 attack percentage. He totaled 35.5 points over that span, adding 5.0 total blocks to his outstanding offensive performance. Beale currently sits third in the MCVL in overall kills (131) and fourth in kills per set (3.20).

Monday racked up 28 digs in Trine's two matches, averaging 3.5 digs per set in eight sets played. The Beech Grove, Ind.-native also posted a solid showing at the net with 3.0 total blocks from his setting spot. Monday is fifth in the league in digs (104) and fourth in the digs per set (2.54).

The Thunder are the first team to sweep the weekly awards in 2020 and the first to accomplish this feat since Carthage earned both nods on March 28, 2018.

There will be a full slate of MCVL action this weekend, beginning Friday, Feb. 21 with Fontbonne taking on Trine, Mount Union hosting Olivet and Mount St. Joseph matching up with Adrian.
