Familiar Faces Marcinkowski, Rothstein Headline MCVL’s Weekly Awards

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (MCVL.org) – The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) announced its fifth edition of the 2020 weekly awards on Thursday afternoon. Adrian's Noah Marcinkowski and Fontbonne's Zach Rothstein were named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, both winning their second weekly accolade of 2020.

Marcinkowski has shown his offensive prowess for the Bulldogs, whom currently sit atop the MCVL standings at 3-0. The senior outside hitter racked up 72 kills in three matches, totaling 25 or more kills in two of those contests. Hitting at a blistering .349 clip and totaling 6.0 kills per set, Marcinkowski earned National Player of the Week honors in Division-III from the AVCA. He currently ranks first in the MCVL in kills, kills per set, points per set and aces per set. The Menifee, Calif. native is first-nationally in kills per set (4.85) and overall points per set (5.52).

Rothstein continues to anchor the Fontbonne defense in his senior season, collecting 24 digs in two matches for the Griffins, an average of 3.0 digs per set. In a five-set thriller against Adrian, the Evergreen Park, Ill.-native totaled 15 digs from his libero position.

Both Marcinkowski and Rothstein pick up their second weekly honors of the 2020 campaign, last winning the same award on Feb. 6 and Jan. 30, respectively. For Rothstein, it is his eighth career Defensive Player of the Week award and, for Marcinkowski, his third.
