OLIVET, Mich. – Gabriel Murley has been named head men's volleyball coach at Olivet College, according to an announcement by director of athletics Haley Diringer. Murley will step away from his assistant athletic director duties but continue to also serve as an assistant coach for the women's volleyball program.

"I am excited Gabe accepted the head men's volleyball coach position," said Diringer. "In the short time he has been at Olivet, he has done a great job as an assistant athletic director. Now, I am looking forward to the future and seeing what he can accomplish as our head men's volleyball coach."

Prior to joining the Olivet staff in June 2022, Murley served as varsity girls' volleyball coach at Lansing Everett High School from June 2016 to July 2020. He was the athletic director during the 2021-22 academic year. Murley also has volleyball coaching experience at Britton-Deerfield High School, Ballistic Volleyball Club and Siena Volleyball Academy.

"I am very grateful to be named the next head men's volleyball coach at Olivet College," said Murley. "This team has a strong foundation, with a large group of returning players eager to take the program to new heights. I am honored at the opportunity to serve as a mentor to the student-athletes, as they develop into leaders both on the court and within the greater Olivet College community. For those who follow the growth of men's volleyball within the state of Michigan, these are exciting times."

Murley earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish language and literature from Siena Heights in 2014. He was a four-year player on the men's volleyball team for the Saints, serving as a team captain in 2014.
